The Colegiata de Santa María of Ainsa
The town of Aínsa, declared as being of cultural interest for the beauty of its monuments, is located in the heart of Sobrarbe. Here is the Colegiata de Santa María, 11th-12th centuries, which stands out for its beauty and sobriety.
Especially impressive is its tower, unique in terms of its dimensions in Aragon Romanesque, making it an observation point with spectacular views. Its simple doorway has four recessed arches supported on four elaborated capital columns.
From within the Temple, the only one with a barrel vault, we can access the crypt and cloisters, both of great interest.
The castle, a citadel built over several centuries, conserves very few elements of the original Romanesque building, although worthy of note are the pentagonal tower, currently an EcoMuseum.
